Round 9 & 10 Salamanca, NY
Second part of the east coast swing was at Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino. This venue brings out all the snowmobile racing fans, digesting close course racing, Sunoco race fuel & loud race cans in the air. Mother Nature wasn’t that nice going into the weekend of racing and Saturday afternoon with heavy rain, luckily someone did the rain dance, that rain turned into sleet then into snow. WE LOVE SNOW!!
Back to the normal weekend schedule after a fun weekend covering just the pro’s. Out of the classes we knew it was time to give limelight to the future of the sport 120 Champ class and those sleds cost almost as much as the pro semi’s do LOL(joke) they do cost a pretty penny. P.s. we miss the exotic pro open mod sleds. Next class we want to cover Pro-Am Plus 30 class, every year we are surprised by the stacked number of entries and competitive nature of these old geezers acting as If they are 16 again haha!!
Thursday night looking over the entry list we thought they there was a miss print, double checking with other sources it was not a miss print. Previous pro-lite competitor and podium guy for many high level teams. Kevin Wallenstein made it way hard for the top guys to grab a win this weekend, veteran Corin Todd had his work cut out for himself again blistering fast #122. Todd taking second holding on tight to that red plate gaining more points as we get to the ladder part of the championship, following suit Tyler Oomen would put down another incredible ride on that Arctic Cat sled and looking good in the new Fly Racing jersey. Saturday spelled a different story kinda, Illinois native Brian Petersen was putting in some hot laps during practice, gathering it all together to get on the box once again putting that good looking Fly Racing gear in the box. Moving up a position Oomen nailed down a second place gaining much needed points, yet a weird sight not seeing points leader on the box finishing in 6th. What an odd finish for him, heard something happened to him getting into another rider we believe. Wrapping up the podium would be once again Kevin Wallenstein, he mentioned on the podium his friend back in Michigan got him back into racing we are glad to see him back on the tour. We asked his wife if they have plans to do the rest of the season, “only one or two more its really expensive and far”. If Kevin was in points the answer would most likely be a yes, is this a sign for what we could see next season? Heck yes!! Some notable mentions, CSRA rider Tyler Billings made the trek to compete in NY, we would love to see more CSRA guys compete in ISOC full time. Let’s go boys!! Leo Patenaude brother of #8 made an appearance in Valcourt now again in Salamanca. Devin Denman put in a great ride Saturday landing one position off the podium, this guy knows how to send it, hold er wide champ!
120 champ your up to bat. Kody Krantz #22 returned again to the professional stage riding the bars off that mod taking round 1 heat #1 win. Coming back for round to unfortunately his sled went kaboom not lining up for the final, what a bummer to see as he is very competitive. Lyla Judnick takes round 1 heat 2 setting up for a solid round 2. Deegan Giguere is the man to watch in this class, we don’t know if he knows to let off the gas that kid can ride, grabbing round 2 heat 1 win. Just talking about her #33 goes to take the checkers in round 2 heat 2. Stage is set for the final, we had a close eye on Lincoln Skar, Vinnie Diorio Aka Iron Man.
Starting line light turns green and those built 120 chassis rocket off the line heading towards the studboy holeshot line. 213 sled lead wire to wire lighting the candles as the rest of the field tried to close the gap but Deegan found smoother and faster lines. Lincoln Skar did all he could to close the gap not having enough time only to settle for second. Bronze was captured by none other than “Iron Man” Vinnie Diorio smiling so big on that podium. Twenty points between Diorio & Skar, 18 points between Giguere & Skar. This championship may come down to Spirit Mountain in Duluth, MN.
Back to the midwest we go 6th stop on the tour. ERX Motorpark you are next. BIG SENDS, RHYTHMS & BIG FAN ENERGY!
