Round 13 & 14 Eagle River, WI
Incredible weekend back in Wisconsin, where history is made for ice ovals and holds the most snowmobile memorabilia in the world. World Championship Derby Complex was on the docket to crown new rider’s gold, silver and bronze. A few riders clinched championships early in select classes. Friday’s snow was a nice change to an already large track from the ISOC track crew, Saturday brought blue bird skies and a small chill in the air yet still refreshing.
Transition 8-10 & Sport classes have huge talent flowing keeping everyone guessing to who will stand on the podium after each final. This sport is growing with more heat races and more talent lining cup to the Studboy starting line.
Lets kick this write up with Transition 8-10 field, Round 1 Heat 1 Brock Wilson took the win followed by Isaiah Cunningham & Harrison Skar. Heat 2 was lead by Noah Kuhn, Deegan Guguere & Layton Wensloff. Round 2 Heat 1 Landan Lysne, Wyatt Miller & Brock Wilson taking top three. Heat 2 is Deegan Guguere, Noah Kuhn, Harrison Skar. Setting up the front row these kids have their sits set on the Studboy holeshot and checking out. What a battle, change in positions points leader Noah Kuhn would prevail extending his points. Deegan Guguere would hold silver up inches closer to a win, would he grab it in round 14? Coming in third a new face to the podium Brock Wilson where did this young man come from? Saturday resets the field. Noah Kuhn would prevail again making it not easy on the competition. Deegan was right there in striking distance but couldn’t make it happen crossing the finish in second. Landan Lynse pushes his sled to the max taking bronze and adding it to his collection of medals.
Points lead has been shuffled around alot in the sport class, Jimmy Stanisich holds the red plate over Justin Blazevic with a 13 point gap. Justin is putting in great rides trying to keep the points championship in his reach. How cool would it be for a privateer to take the championship. We think it would be. Lets go JB723!
Friday all eyes are on #517, #723 & #422 as these three are duking it out for this championship. Crossing the finish Jimmy puts up the #1 finger over the rest of the field signifying he the guy to beat. Kamden Duffy on the Elite Skidoo sled isn’t too far from Jimmy crossing in second, lastly we saw Justin cross in 3rd not in the position he wanted to finish still gaining valuable points. Notable rider AJ Skogquist takes 4th really itching for that podium. Saturday rolls around man what a different scene on this blue bird day. Kamden Duffy would have to qualify through the LCQ, being a top dog what a weird spot for him to get into the final with a back row start #422 sled would make his way up the pack to place 3rd over the top two rivals. #517 Scheuring Speed Sports sled crossed checkers in 8th. WHAT!! Privateer Blazevic finishes ahead of Jimmy in 6th not gaining much more points towards the championship. SRT Skogquist racing team has those Skidoo sleds top notch. Two brothers competing against each other would go 1-2 on the box. AJ taking the lead with Wyatt right behind. So pumped for these boys, all the had work pays off.
One last weekend for the books, champions will be crown at Spirit mountain in Duluth.
