round 9 & 10 Salamanca, NY
East coast fans are some of the best fans in the snocross industry, they come out of the wood work(literally). As the semi’s rolled into the parking lot of Seneca Allegany Casino we knew it was time to go green. Trails open for spectators to ride in to the event which we haven’t seen in a while, most likely when the track was on the other side of the casino(Mod era)
This weekend we wanted to give the amateurs some more limelight as they are the future of our sport and put on some great racing all weekend. Jr Girls 9-13, Jr 10-13 & Sport-Lite your up!
Hemmer Motorsports talent pool runs deep from their Pro effort down to their amateur effort. Avery Hemmer the multi disciplined rider has unbelievable talent from snocross to off-road racing, she stunned the crowd once again sweeping the podium in New York, starting 2nd behind super starter Eleanor Schmidt. Hemmer had a big challenge ahead of her battling with #811 all weekend long, while Schmidt had the holehots locked Hemmer had to use an outside the box mindset this would lead #415 to take the lead. We have been hearing Avery will be moving to Pro-Am women next season to challenge the reigning champ Malene Cottew. The #811 of Schmidt would take second both days of racing with great efforts really showing her skills on the massive yet technical track, hands down a great effort for Eleanor & her team Krajicek Racing putting the Arctic Cat & Wings for Life on the box. Friday & Saturday had two different third place finishers, Lila Hemmer cousin to Avery would grab her first podium this season it was all smiles for the Hemmer team. Saturday brought another first podium appearance this time it would be #812 of Bernice Thieke laying it out on the track. This class should be on everyones radar as these young girls excel year to year setting sights to become the next super stars in the Pro-Am Women class. Grab your autographs while you can from these young super stars!
Jr 10-13 Class has only seen two of the same rider’s on the podium Ryder Hayes & Tyson Kielman. Hayes with three podiums two of them are wins the other is taking 3rd in New York. Kielman taking a third in Ironwood & first in Canterbury. We have expected to see Tyson on the podium with a mid pack start and a lot of work to do he only made it up to 7th, Ryan Shimanski is another rider turning heads on his #195 Polaris. #580 of Tommy Roy shot out like a cannon ball hailing from Canada pulled a great start making quick work to get into first eventually taking the overall. Who is this kid? Where has he been the first half of the season? Great job Tommy! Arctic Cat made another podium, Colden Harnois pulled the holeshot leading first couple laps relinquishing the lead to the #580, Holden was still ecstatic getting on the podium, these podiums don’t come easy yet are a great moment for all the hard work these young guns put in. Third place would be taken by Michigans own Ryder Hayes the most consistent rider in this class, heading back to the midwest in two weeks Hayes looks to be back on top at ERX.
Lastly Sport-Lite as everyone knows is the class where teams start recruiting new rider’s entering the pro ranks. Collin Taggart on the Wings for Life Ski-doo was on a tear all weekend long looking more and more comfortable on the Ski-doo platform taking the win, Jimmy Stanisich following in second aboard his Scheuring Speed Sports rocket ship. These two are ones to watch every weekend always putting on awesome battles. As everyone knows Steve Scheuring is out to hire top riders, Jimmy is a perfect example. Third will be taken by the #722 Tavin Knudson, Saturday didn’t look to be the same, not being on the podium at all is weird knowing Tavin is always on the podium. Skogquist Race Team(SRT) is one of the top power house teams in the pits especially with Elias Ishoel help mentor and guide Wyatt, AJ & the Freelands. Aj proved to be a reckoned with Sunday taking a commanding lead grabbing first, Collin Taggart & Jimmy Stanisich rounding the podium out!
Rounds 9 & 10 will lead us back to the midwest, a lot of racers call home. ERX Motorpark layout will be a great one going around the pond, we look forward to a great weekend with packed stands, mullets and two smoke filling the air!!
